WOODCUT MEDIA ENGINEERS NEW DOC SERIES COMBAT MACHINES FOR A+E NETWORKS® UK

Series Distributed Internationally by TCB Media Rights

London – Monday 20th November 2017 – A+E Networks® UK has commissioned Woodcut Media to produce new factual series Combat Machines for HISTORY in the UK.

Combat Machines marks the third series in the ‘Combat’ franchise, following the success of Combat Ships and Combat Trains, which both previously premiered on HISTORY.

Brought to life through a combination of expert interviews, authentic recreation, graphics and archive footage, the new 8×1 hour show unravels the story of remarkable feats of military engineering.

Showcasing inventions such as Hiram Maxim’s machine gun, through to current armoured vehicles including the Cougar and Marauder, the series focuses on the definitive machines and weapons of both World Wars, as well as the Cold War. Themes covered in the series include: The Desert Rats; Machines of WW1; Vehicles of WW2; Electronic Warfare; Battlefield Engineering; Vietnam War; Mechanised Infantry; and The Arms Race.

Woodcut Media’s Executive Producer for the series, Adam Jacobs, says: “With the demand for military and history content still going strong, we are delighted to be producing Combat Machines as we evolve this informative and entertaining franchise.”

Combat Machines was ordered by Dan Korn, VP of Programming for HISTORY at A+E Networks UK. The series will be distributed internationally by TCB Media Rights.

Dan Korn says: “HISTORY viewers have an enduring fascination with how things are made and the ‘great leaps forward’ in mechanisation which occur in the midst of conflict.  Combat Machines is the perfect opportunity to examine those moments of engineering ingenuity which, in many cases, made the difference between triumph and disaster.”

Paul Heaney, CEO of TCB Media Rights says: “This isn’t just the latest in a franchise, it’s a contemporary series that is responding to many platforms’ needs around the world.  Woodcut will tell the stories of each of the machines from a historical context along with a strong informative engineering reference.”

Combat Machines will broadcast on HISTORY® in the UK in 2018.
