WOODCUT PARTNERS WITH THE ROB KNOX FOUNDATION ON POWERFUL DOCUMENTARY EXPLORING THE LIFE & TRAGIC MURDER OF HARRY POTTER ACTOR ROBERT KNOX

For immediate release:

London/Hampshire – Tuesday 9th November 2021 – UK distributor Woodcut International has partnered with The Rob Knox Foundation to launch a powerful award-winning documentary about the tragic murder of Harry Potter actor Robert Knox – a film that highlights the horrors of knife crime in a bid to further crack down on senseless acts of violence that destroy so many lives.

The partnership sees Woodcut International team up as executive producer and worldwide TV distributor for (K)nox: The Rob Knox Story (1 x 1 hr).

In 2008, 18 year old Rob Knox was stabbed to death just days after filming his breakthrough role as Marcus Belby in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. As a rising star, his death made headline news, and stirred a wake-up call to address these types of crimes. However, years later, knife crime remains a serious issue not only in the UK but across the globe.  This emotional documentary features interviews with family members, friends and Harry Potter cast such as Jim Broadbent, Ray Winstone, Tom Felton, David Yates, Dani Harmer and Blake Harrison, including archive interviews with Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.  The film takes a closer look into Rob’s life in the lead up to his untimely demise and follows the police investigation into the case and the ultimate conviction of the perpetrator, delivering a powerful anti-knife crime message!

(K)nox: The Rob Knox Story is directed by Aaron Truss, produced by The Rob Knox Foundation (Colin Knox) and Nick Kenton. Executive producers are Aaron Truss and Joe Acres.  Koulla Anastasi is executive producer for Woodcut International.

Aaron Truss, Director, Executive Producer, The Rob Knox Foundation said, “’We at the Rob Knox Foundation are extremely happy to be partnering with Woodcut International and look forward to our journey together. Not only have Woodcut been involved with some great documentaries like Damilola: Death of a Ten Year Old, but they also understand the need for a film like this in today’s societyKnife crime especially in the UK is worse than ever, so we hope that this film will make an impact on people’s attitudes towards this horrific culture.”

Koulla Anastasi, Commercial Director, Woodcut International said, “It’s a privilege to be involved with this extraordinary documentary.  This film pays homage to a young man whose legacy has shone a light on knife crime, and his fame in the Harry Potter movie has created a unique vehicle to draw attention to the soul destroying impact crimes of this nature have on so many lives.”

Since the documentary wrapped production in October 2020, it has been touring the film circuit garnering a string of accolades – Winner Best Feature Documentary (London Independent Film Festival), Gold Winner (Latitude Film Awards), Audience Award (BELIFF London Film Festival), Official Finalist (Toronto Independent Film Festival & The Gold Movie Awards), Official Finalist for Best Documentary and Best Social & Environmental Film (The Soho London Independent Film Festival), and Official Semi-Finalist (Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival).
